Workplace Needs Assessment

"Creating workplaces where people flourish"

What is a Workplace Needs Assessment?

A workplace needs assessment is a structured process used to identify the skills, resources, support, and improvements needed to help employees and the organisation perform at their best.

It involves gathering information, through an assessment, usually three hours with the employee and manager/HR, to pinpoint gaps between where things are now and where they need to be.

This assessment helps employers make informed decisions about training, support, wellbeing initiatives, equipment, work processes, coaching, co-coaching, and awareness of ND.

What Can A Workplace Needs Assessment Help With?

  • Identify organisational goals and challenges to assess how well current workplace conditions, tools, and processes align with business objectives and where improvements are needed.

  • Evaluate employee needs by gathering input from staff to understand their requirements for training, equipment, support, or working conditions to enhance productivity and well-being

  • Analyse work environments and resources by reviewing the physical workspace, technology, workflow and policies to ensure they support efficient and safe operations

  • Understand an individual's strengths and challenges by identifying how the person's neurodivergence (e.g., autism, ADHD, dyslexia) influences their work style, communication preferences, and sensory sensitivities.

  • Assess the physical and sensory environment by evaluating factors like lighting, noise levels, and workspace layout to ensure a comfortable and accessible environment that minimises sensory overload.

  • Review tools, technology, and communication and ensure access to assistive technologies, flexible communication methods, and clear task management tools suited to the individual’s needs

  • Identify support and accommodation needs by collaborating with the individual to determine necessary accommodations, such as flexible schedules, task modifications, or support from a coach, awareness training, co coaching

  • Recommend solutions and improvements by providing actionable insights and strategies to address identified gaps, such as new training programs, adjustments or process optimisations.

Sam Wilson Powell, Personal and Executive Coach

I really enjoyed our session yesterday.  I was telling my husband how refreshing it felt to be coached by you.

I like your style, your energy and feel fortunate to be paired up with you - especially at this particular point in my career.

I look forward to seeing you  next time.

Working with Nicola was a breath of fresh air. I am a coach myself and I found Nicola’s style and
presence really warm, natural and supportive.
It’s not always easy to coach a coach - but Nicola was patient, gave me plenty of space to work
through my thoughts and she was happy to share some practical tips, which I found very helpful.
Nicola also sent me some lovely hand-drawn illustrations after some of our sessions, which was a
lovely touch, as well as being a useful summary of the work covered and the points I’d highlighted
as being actions I wanted to commit to.
So if you are after a coach who is down to earth, bubbly, straight-talking and encouraging, Nicola
might be just the woman you’re looking for…
